Bedroom makeover

My daughter Florence just turned 12!!
She wanted me to update her bedroom and make it look a little more mature and glamourous.

This was her room before which I still adore.
I drew the shape of a tree and painted it white and added a birdhouse and some fabric mushrooms to it.

The Makeover.

I gave the walls a fresh coat of the same color.
I bought this fabulous piece of fabric from Urban outfitters and covered the whole wall using sticky back velcro dots for easy removal.
Cut around any electrics and pull the fabric taught sticking it with the velcro.

I found this large mirror on the street with was originally gold.
Painting it a grey underneath then rubbing a candle on top once the paint dried then a coat of China White on the top of that. Use sand paper gently taking off the top layer of white paint to show the grey underneath to give it an aged , distressed look. The candle wax sits in the grooves to reveal the darker paint underneath.

This dressing table was being thrown out from my neighbors house and as usually gave it a new lease of life.
Using more or less the same process as the mirror.

Adding some ceramic handles it turned into a lovely piece of furniture.

Printing her favorite idol and framing it really makes the walls look better than her sticking lots of posters up with tape!

Add a variety of cushions on a white duvet adds the color and comfort.
Of course she still wanted to keep her Rabbit nightlight by her bed. Never too old.

Using such a vibrant print as a main feature, steer clear of more prints and keep the curtains and bedding white or it will look too busy.

The bedside table was just what I was looking for in a local thrift store for $50. Gave it a new coat of bright green paint.

Start a wall of framed pictures, drawings, and photos of her favorite things again saves the walls from looking messy with tape etc.

She loves it!
